I couldn't quite put my finger on what it was. It was almost like the charm of the far cry games from before was missing to me. So I decided to go back and play the first game in the series that I played. Far cry 4. Now I have played Far cry 3, 5 and New dawn since then but Far cry 4 was my first real dive into the series.
They should have just given us the NG+ and have the new, cool gear be the rewards for that. I LOVED Far Cry 6, but they made a lot of weird changes that I think really hurt the game play. If the game play had mechanics similar to 4 or 5, I think it'd be the best in the series.
