These engines have a fundamental problem which, in my view is common to many other applications which use reverse involute chains. They and their derivatives would most definitely be on my list of engines to avoid. As such, I doubt there's a huge amount of labour saving in having both done at the same time. Another of the VW 1.5 TSI engine problems is excessive oil consumption. Some drivers have reported their car repeatedly being low on oil when checked. This is indicative of high oil consumption. Generally, oil consumption can be from three main sources; turbo seals, piston rings and valve guides.

When it was originally released how many had the water pump driven by the cambelt and how many did not - or was it that the MK7 only had my type of configuration and that it was the MK6 that had the water pump driven by the waterpump. Remember that - in terms of age - the MK7 LJEFGW.
